Solace:

Solace is a 14th century borrowing from Latin by way of Anglo-French. It's Latin ancestor solari means “to console or to comfort.

As a professional chef I have always gained comfort and solace from food. Some of my earliest childhood memories center around being in the kitchen with my grandma. Whether she knew it or not, I was always paying attention. From watching her technique on making the perfect gravy to picking up her weekly order of meat from the butcher for dinner, I have always been drawn to the kitchen like a magnet. You can try to pull me away, but I'll always make my way back home to the kitchen.
